Diary of Miss X: Amelia’s Birthday 2010

This year I’m turning the big 25 and I’m so excited about all of the crazy things that have transpired in the last year. When I reflect upon my year as a 24 year old, I can hardly believe all of the amazing adventures I’ve had, people I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with and art I’ve been lucky enough to make.
I lived 80% of my year out of a suitcase in 2 of my favourite cities in the world, NYC and London. I went on the adventure of a lifetime with Angelspit, playing over 50 shows to 15 - 2000 people in tiny venues and sold out shows all over the world. I got my dream job, and then quit after I realised that the daily grind was not for me and most importantly I’ve been able to make a living from art despite everyone telling me it couldn’t be done.
It has not been a year without a great deal of heartache and tumultuous change, but life is better with the gritty bits left in.
I’d like to thank all of you, the readers of this blog, supporters of Angelspit & Miss X Aesthetic Laboratories and everyone who has had faith in me over the years. Thanks to everyone who has let me sleep on their floor, baked me cupcakes, thrown me beach parties, drawn amazing fan art and generally enriched my life. Thanks for supporting me and helping me put my art out into the world, allowing me to share my vision with you all. I’m glad that I have been able to inspire some of you to do the same, so here’s to dreaming big!
Here’s a shout out to some of the new and favorite friends that I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with over the past year, Zoog (my creative muse always), Kevin & Amy (Sugarpill), Carmen Pie, Duncy, Donna & Steve (Ego Likeness), Louisa & Baron & Izzy (best housemates ever), Steph & Tom (creative soulmates), Nubby, Star, Vulpy and Nico.
This post is dedicated to Rich Jones, my partner in crime and person who I owe so much of my happiness to. Here’s to more international trashbag adventures, zooper hot berlin warehouse underwear parties, alcoholic souvenirs and pressed pennies!

No I do not have an amazon birthday wishlist as I’m desperately trying not to accumulate too many possessions as I can’t take them with me on my travels. Happy birthday Amelia. I’m turning 25 in September and am suffering from a quarter-life crisis in a job I hate… I would prefer to make my living from modelling and writing rather than having them just as hobbies. Thank you for proving to me this sort of thing can be done… Now I’ve just got to work out how to do it!

I have just turned 24 two days ago, and spent it reflecting on the accomplishments and progress I have made up until now, as an individual an as an artist- and hope that by continuing this it will blossom into something worthy in return.
Hopefully create some history haha :)
