Zombie Playground

By Destroyx | June 12, 2010

While we were driving back from Savannah on our last mini tour, we happened across this abandoned, derelict motel and playground by the side of the highway. We stopped to explore and I was absolutely captivated by the textures and chilling atmosphere of the now eerily abandoned ‘Family Inn’. We all agreed that it would be the perfect setting for a zombie film. I hope to one day return to shoot a video or a proper photoshoot at this location as I think it has such an evocative quality.

oh I love abandoned places ^^

looks amazong as a shoot location.

Actually you mgiht be able to do a shoot in the Hellingly Asylum while you’re in the UK (it’s not too far away form Brighton). You might get permission to enter, here’s a link with some fab pics of the interior:

I know students occasionally get access if it is for some research, I’d love to shoot there myself lol

U shouldn’t visit places which have the tell tale signs of danger.. A man could’ve been watching from a short distance away, for he would know the territory well - enough for a stash t*N gash stow away. all the whilst you cross your footsies for d’photo modelling capture. i don’t know but datz not exactly cool rapture. If it were just 2 of you there or even with 3rd man archer, anything could’ve happened thus over-powered 2 men bounce of d’rafters. Beds of mould, shoes with legs of skull cross n’ boned… If an attack occurred on that eerie afternoon whom is anyone known? be careful in London. If you need cash, take heed as there’s parents to phone, not jones :-)

Crime is rife, and certain city suburbs not just hillbilly desolate places have much Skkttrriifff’E ‘n ffiigghht’e ddrrukkrrittt’e?! You must be careful in London, but if you will, see if you can spot any illegal activity at download festival- people doing drugs or areas which do not permit alcohol. Have you put an asbo on sorry yet &/or got the authorites involved regarding ‘friends’ drug problems yet? Are you onto it, or just more interested in email ‘word’ crime these days?

    Wow, absolutely beautiful.

That one hallway looked like the perfect place for a photo shoot. (Not that the whole place wasn’t photo shoot worthy.)

I’ll have to ask my friends about that next time we head down to Savannah.

I love the old playground! It’s funny how motels look just the same nowadays (apart from the broken-down part!). Well, I guess they weren’t really around until the ’50s, but I feel like it’s a kind of housing that doesn’t evolve a lot. They’re still cheap and chilly-looking, and I hate that weird canvas/metal foldout stool thing they have in the closet sometimes!

Interesting how some gothic fans are scared of buildings here, one would think they’d be used to old haunts & familiar with rituals of an early pagan nature. ? Odd, maybe folk are more commercially ‘fashion’ oriented here. Maybe mean looking men with hawks pushing 40 with an entire crowd behind them afraid of folk they call gay & mentally retarded was in a while back, out now and maybe in later on again. Who know? Doesn’t make any sense to gang up on the demented & weaker individuals in society.. What the hell am I on about, this is not design or fashion? Schizophrenia, never mind. Download fest is really good. Stay true to Loyalty, don’t say sorry. The simple edits here bring out the yellow/green, whites & blue. With these kind of captures, it’s the relic of all gothic industrial vision.. I’m taking my camera out for the day. Good stuff..

Awesome, it looks JUST like one of the maps in Left 4 Dead 2. Wonder if the map was inspired by this place, as it also takes place in GA.
