Promo graphic for Hideous and Perfect
For a large part of 2009, I have been spending working on the latest release for my band Angelspit. We wanted to create something iconic and striking that would have a lasting impact.

Manifesto statement postcard graphic for Hideous and Perfect.

Cover for Australia, Europe & North American version
We decided to create a hyper saturated photographic based world for the CD artwork which played upon yet also developed some of the usual themes of Angelspit artwork (e.g. medical imagery and cross elements). We worked with an absolutely amazing team of people to bring the imagery to life which I will expanding upon in further detail in my ‘behind the scenes’ post about the photo shoot.

The CD artwork was typified by bold photography and equally as bold type layouts. Various weights of the Avant Garde font were used for the typography. After the photographs were taken, much of the work that had to be undertaken involved photo retouching and colour correction of the photographs.

Final artwork template for the triple gatefold wallet.
For the Australia/European edition, I didn’t want to release the CD in a regular plastic jewel case and worked with the CD manufacturer to develop a unique triple gatefold CD wallet which could hold a 16 page booklet and a fold out poster.
This CD was manufactured by Replicat in Melbourne Australia. I highly recommend their service and wouldn’t have been able to produce the CD without them! They helped me realise this complex CD packaging and attended to all of my special needs. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you are from Australia and need CDs produced, these are the guys to talk to!

The Australian/European version of the CD (as pictured above) is available online through Surgeon-x.com (Shipping international from Australia). This version is also being physically distributed throughout Europe and Australia and is also available on itunes.

The music on this CD is amazing, sadly I haven’t been able to get my hands on a hard copy. I’d love to see the artwork featured on it in person.
Christmas is coming, hopefully my parents bought me a copy. :)

When I´ve first seen the “Doll” I thought like “Oh wow they´ve made awsome moving doll” then I realized - It´s Destroyx?! And I love my “Alice in Vulgarland” T-shirt :) Since I was child I loved Alice in Wonderland and seeing falling “Girl” with pills around it… Heck, it´s my favourite t-shirt. Keep that awsome stuff comming!

It’s an amazing album, and anyone who doesn’t own it should buy it right now!
I think the design concept is awesome, and it turned out beautifully, as well as being phenomanal musically :)
One of my fav all time albums!

I loved the design concept behind this album! All the artwork looks amazing. I also love the typography.
I thought your transformation as the butterfly-lash fetish bloodied geisha lady was so drastic and avant-garde, it kind of blew me away!
It’s my favorite Angelspit album so far, too.

You do what you do so flawlessly… I truly admire you! Do you have any tips on getting started in the music & art industry while stably supporting yourself? I know there’s a lot to it… but that’s where I really want to be, and I’m trapped with a 9-5 job and don’t have a lot of time to build those things up. Maybe you can do a blog about it? I’d really appreciate it!!!

I found the CD wallet disappointing only because it ended up scratching my disc on arrival.
Deus Ex (a 2000 computer game) had a CD wallet that was also triple gatefold, but housed the CD like a normal jewel case does.
Hope you package your next CD in this way.
