I’ve always through the rockabilly/vintage/retro thing was cool, but I’ve never really been able to do it without putting my own spin on it because I’m no Dita von Teese. Would you believe I’m actually wearing a leopard print leotard? The last time I wore one was back in my ballet days when I was 12. I never thought I’d be rocking a leotard or ‘playsuit’ as I prefer to call it 11 years later!
To top off this look I experimented with my vintage hair skills. I think the results are a cross between Rachel from Bladerunner and Jessica Rabbit. I still have a lot to learn though.
I would have loved to get some full length shots, but the room is extremely narrow and it was impossible to get the length needed. However, I do want to do more outfit shots with this playsuit perhaps styled differently with alternate accessories. I was thinking a black bow belt and giant head eating bows.
The tutorial for this makeup look will be coming on Wednesday. All makeup (except lips and foundation) is by Miss X. I’m trying to shoot a different look every week, which is a fun challenge that I’m really enjoying. So stay tuned for the results!
Leopard Leotard (!): Agent Provocateur
Leather ruched gloves: Topshop
I’m also wearing black opaque stockings and pony fur leopard heels, but they aren’t in shot.

I was just dreaming about that Agent Provocateur playsuit last night! I was started a painting today that featured it. I refuse to live a life where I don’t eventually own it.

That’s just hott!
I have got to show my sister, she love just about anything in leopard print. I prefer zebra print myself.

That makeup is crazy scary and vamp as. Nice.

I love your makeup and hair! Definitely pretty original. It reminds me a lot of Bettie Page, too - something about the mouth and eyes. I’m really excited for the different-look-each-week thing!!

:o I think this is the first picture I’ve seen of you where you’re not wearing a corset! Unless there’s a sneaky one underneath…
Your hair looks amazing. I can’t quite get victory rolls right yet… perhaps a minor addition to the upcoming makeup tutorial? Pretty please?

RAWRR!! You ar fierce!! ;]
This is such a ferociously sexy way to do pin-up!
Nice make-up too!!

You look fawking hot, mama! Like the leader of a girl gang who rides around with guns and hot rods, seducing men and shooting up casinos, or from “Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill”!

super kawaii mama- Squee… yes a play date is totally essential!
adroitly- you are a woman with taste! I had dreams about this playsuit too… and still do, definitely one of my favourite things =)
Persephone 66- Ah.. a zebra person, that’s cool. I am in the leopard camp for sure.
girlxboy- I’m glad you think so. I’ve never been called crazy scary and vamp in the one sentence.. I like it.
Lisa- I was definitely inspired by Bettie Page, I think she’s awesome!
Puck- Thanks sweetie! I think it’s much more fun to reinterpret instead of redo.
Esz- Thanks! I hope to get better at the hair with more practice.
Kitty- Thanks honey! I appreciate your comment!
Fiend- Yeah would you believe, I’m not wearing a corset in this! There isn’t a corset underneath, that’s why I can be a little bit more bendy in my posing =)
I might do a vintage hair tutorial in a few weeks. I need a bit more time to practice and it’s something that’s hard to explain as you need ‘in progress’ shots. I will keep it in mind for future articles though as I’m sure a lot of people would like to know about it.
Typhoid- Meow!
Ashe Mischief- Aww.. thanks lovely! yes I like the idea of being the leader of a super kitsch girl gang. =) I LOVE the poster for that film, I’ve never watched it but I should definitely do it because I love to collect exploitation film posters
Harpijat- MEOW!

Of course you’re no Dita von Teese; you’re in a league of your own! Your styling skills are phenominal and unpredictable. I keep coming back for more. Hopefully when I start working on my portfolio we can have a lovely photoshoot ^_^ keep the gorgeous coming!

Crysti Couture- YAY! I’ve got a file called ‘inspiration’ too actually so I’m super happy to be apart of yours
Twisted- Thanks sweetie
quantumzzzombie- Dita is one of my style idols, but I’m not good at doing the retro thing straight up. Good luck with your folio sweetie.
Melanie- Yeah I know.. I was like… woah.. brown… but it worked out ok =)
Rae- Hairspray is the key. I’ll do a tute on it perhaps and you’ll be surprised how you can tame your hair.
Jennie- Sure thing… give me a few weeks and I’ll give it a shot.
djkittenmiss- Thanks sweetie! Yeah I’m digging the tutes.. I feel a bit more useful than normal!

You look adorable with this style! I simply loved it, I adore ‘vintage’ looks, and loved the unique way you mixed your style with it :D
I am totally in love with the hair, do you have any tutorial or tips?
May 14th, 2009 at 6:42 am
p.s. Just saw the new glitter colors for May– they make me SWOON! Love them!
May 14th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
I love the leotard. I would probably look ridiculous if I wore it, but you look amazing with it! =D I love how your hair is half blonde and half black. It’s really cool.
May 15th, 2009 at 6:36 am
Oh My!
You look beautiful, as always :)
I adore leopard print, I own several items of clothing and bags featuring it :D
But eh… I don’t pull it off half as well as you do!
and your hair… It’s beautiful :)
It almost gives me half a mind to go half blonde again, hehe :)
xx

I absolutely love this look! Especially the hair!!! I really love the line drawn under your eyes.
I think the leopard print leotard would look awesome with a knee length version of one those Victorian skirt-hoops. (the kind that look like a cage that gives the skirt its shape) with a sheer fabric over-top so you can still see the skirt hoop. And short-shorts or bloomers under that.
Or maybe an outfit made of alternating white and red leopard print, with the same pattern of spots?…
May 16th, 2009 at 12:47 am
omg, the leopard body of my dreams ><
May 17th, 2009 at 12:53 am
Okay, first thing that comes to my mind:
Fuck me.
Second thing:
Crap, I’m a minor :/
May 17th, 2009 at 2:13 pm
I love it ^^
Leopard prints are really cute, I’ve tried few times to include them in the make-up… Here’s the result:
