Style Division: Museum attire

By Destroyx | April 15, 2009

Me and my favourite droids. Yes that’s a real grin because I love Star Wars!

Me and my favourite characters- Hans Solo and Chewbacca.
Either I’m really short or wookies are really tall.

This is what I wore to the Star Wars exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum. Yes, it’s no secret that I am actually a big geek, so I decided to channel my inner geek into my outfit too!

Tuxedo Jacket: Todd Lynn for Topshop
Striped Shirt: Country Road
Skinny Tie: H&M
Suspender skirt: Dangerfield
Wool Beret: Kmart (would you believe!… I really want a black sequined one too)
Leggings: Supre
Shoes: TUK
Leopard Bag: Lux DeVille

That’s so cool. I want to go to a Star wars exhibition. CHEWY!! =DD Chewbacca is one of my favorite characters in Star Wars. I didn’t really like any of the newer movies, though. Only the old, original trilogy.

That looks so awesome! I must have watched the original trilogy fifty million times haha, my youngest brother is also a huge Star Wars geek and he used to watch one of the movies every day when he was little. I used to have these tiny dolls that were about an inch tall (I think they were called Polly Pocket? :P), and when I played with them they usually rode around in TIE fighters. Wish I didn’t live so far away, I’d really love to see the exhibit!

Wookies are really tall, like 7 foot I think.

If you ever get a chance, you should really go to DragonCon, it’s like Mardi Gras for geeks.

    That outfit is wonderful.

I haven’t watched the original trilogy in forever. I loved watching it when I was younger.

I second Persephone 66’s vote of please come to Dragon Con.
If you like that exhibition, I’m sure you’d love to see the Dragon Con parade with 200+ Storm troopers in full uniform marching down a major street in downtown Atlanta. Peter Mayhew (original Chewbacca) is often found roaming the halls in full costume as well. There is a whole convention track dedicated to Starwars.

And I love the makeup, you really are artist!

I dunno, the droids were always *my* favorites…

I love planning museum-trip outfits! Museums are the perfect places for showing off clothes–you’re almost always standing, you’re surrounded by pretty surroundings to frame you, and all the people there are in the mood to look and appreciate! That’s why I like living in D.C.–so many places to strut around!

Your outfit is so adorable, too!–You’ve got the whole spiced-up-corporate look down!

Ashley- I totally agree.. the newer just didn’t have the fun aspect.. or Hans Solo =)

Jessica - OMG I had polly pocketes too! We must have had similar childhood toys, that’s so awesome!

Ash- I like them too! They are suprisingly comfy too for 5 inch heels.

Persephone 66 - The Wookie costume was really tall, 7 foot sounds about right. I am pretty midget sized though. We are actually trying to get a spot at Dragon Con this year, fingers crossed we will be there.

    E. Black- Original trilogy all the way baby

Trash.core- You’ve found me out, yes I am truly a geek. *high five*

Kali_Lynn - YES dragoncon. I gotta go this year.. it’s actually on my itinerary.

Alice- It’s hard to pick for me between the droids and the wookies…

Yes good point about museum clothes! A great place to wear nice stuff around beautiful things. =)

    Lisa- Thanks!

    SugarRot- Aww.. you’re cute!

Persephone 66- Hehe… bug the organisers and tell them ‘we really want angelspit to come’. Hehehe… we’ll see. We gotta get our visas first!

Typhoid- You must be the first person that I know that actually likes Jar jar. I think everyone really hated him

Alex- You gotta go! It’s a little smaller than expected… but it’s great to see the miniatures up close. I had a great gander.

Star Wars! I love Star Wars haha! These kids were making fun of this one kid at my school because he had this star wars bookbag and the kid was one of those scrawny kids so it was easy to pick on him. So I went over to the kids and was like “What the hell is wrong with Star Wars? That stuff is crazy awesome so go jump off a cliff” and I was bigger then the bullies and they got scared and left the Star Wars kid alone. =)
