The Diary Of Miss X: Best of 2008 Edition

I thought it would be cool to top the year off with some of the more memorable events that happened in 2008 before ushering the soon to be amazing 2009! I’ll start with something important… I found this copy of ‘Against All Odds’ the Chuck Norris autobiography back stage on tour in Tasmania and promptly souverniered it. I did read the book and it was surprisingly interesting in case you were wondering.
In Paris
TRAVEL: Early 2008 I visited Paris and pretty much left my heart there. Later on I moved back from Berlin to Sydney… but I’ll be back in Europe soon!

MUSIC: DJ-ed hard electro in Berlin and Singapore. Released Angelspit’s second album Blood Death Ivory internationally. Went on tour with our favourite Siamese twin band Baal from Japan. We did instore signings and fan meetups where I signed a lot of autographs. It totally blew my mind as it was so unexpected and lovely!

ADVENTURES: I never really was into the whole cupcake thing until I got addicted to Galadarling.com. So for my 23rd birthday this year I decided to have a Cupcake Crawl where we visited all of the cupcake parlors of Sydney in one day. I even made a pirate map for it pinpointing the route. EDUCATION: Suffered through my 5th year of university where I designed some wallpaper, environmental campaigns, made a short film about climate change for Oxfam and wrote a research paper about burlesque as a cultural practice.

FUN STUFF: This year was the year for press coverage. I got on the cover of Dark Spy Magazine in Germany. Angelspit also topped the lists for the best band and worst band for the year from Ritual Magazine in Italy. Amusingly enough I got into Hustler magazine in the USA. A lovely fan also got an amazing pin-up tattoo of me. Most importantly, I started this blog!

2008 was a pretty crazy year for me (in both good and bad ways) and I’m going to make sure that 2009 is even better. I hope you had an awesome 2008, and if not, well… that’s what’s so exciting about 2009!

And finally there’s a star that doesn’t care about any diets, more - doesn’t understand this obsession - and is even hotter than most of other celebrities. Keep it up!

Ohh, that map of yours is a great inspiration! I might have to shamelessly borrow this idea and do something like it with coffee shops around town, or bakeries — as it’s a no cupcake’s land here.

Yukino- Go ahead! I would be honoured if you used the idea. I decided to do it because I’m not big on the ‘pub crawl’ idea and thought about doing a cupcake one instead! I got super nifty with my final map version and I even burnt the edges of the maps with a lighter to give them that aged feel =)
We only just started to get those cupcake shops around Sydney. It has only gotten big over the last 2 years!

Sounds like it was an exciting year for you.
I think, hope, 2009 will be better for me, because I’ll be living with my boyfriend and doing more of what I want and we can be happy together. I like thinking about our new apartment and how to decorate it, I have all kinds of neat ideas. And it’s the first year of my twenties, so maybe that has some symbolic importance.
I love reading your blog, too! I’m always excited when I see new things on it every day.

Videokid- Yes that was a cupcake eating festival of sorts. Man.. that day I think I made myself sick from all of the cupcakes!

PVC- Hehe… I don’t think I could take Chuck Norris. In his book it says he was a world champion at martial arts for a few years… and even showed Bruce Lee a few moves, how awesome is that!

Sounds like you had a pretty darn good 2008!
The cupcake crawl made me laugh, I’m glad i’m not the only person who’s gone through many shops to find cupcakes :p

I am so in love with the cupcake crawl idea. Your map is amazing! Pity Wellington sucks on that front. All I can do is find my way to my friends house, she makes a pretty mean cupcake though :]

Ms Constantine- I can’t remember there being any cupcake stores in Wellington when I was there a few years ago. However, I did remember a store with some mean brownies and caramel slice! Maybe you could do the cupcake crawl idea but from cafe to cafe or house or house to house? Thanks for commenting too =)
