The Diary Of Miss X: Singapore Edition
By Destroyx | December 15, 2008

This column will chronicle some of the adventures that I get up to every week. This week is devoted to my recent trip to DJ in Singapore.

STYLING: The weekend before we left I did an intense photoshoot. Here are all of my planned outfits laid out. It pretty much summarises my colour outlook on life- red, black, grey & white (oh, and leopard print… even though that technically isn’t a colour).

MUSIC: My desk is rarely this clean, so I thought a picture was due to commemorate the occasion. Here I am preparing my DJ set for our gig in Singapore.

LIVING: I’m looking pretty flabergasted in this photograph. That’s because I’m standing in the lobby of a five star hotel which is entirely made out of marble. The nightly charge for a room at this hotel is more than two weeks rent! We don’t normally get put up in such style, so it really was a magnificent experience.

ART: We spent a day looking in the fine museums and art galleries that Singapore has to ofter. They were so nicely presented and technologically equipped. As you can tell from the photograph, I really enjoy contemporary art.

DJ-ING: Highlights from the club. World class DJ’s and a unique atmosphere. We were in the heart of the red light district in the infamous Orchard Towers (aka “The Four Floors of Whores”). We played a mix of electro, noise and hip hop. It was intensely nerve wracking yet fun.

SHOPPING: Singapore is a shopping mecca for anyone, as it caters to all tastes. From shopping centres full of electronics and cameras, to high end boutiques and $2 shops, Singapore is for people that like to shop. So I naturally was in heaven. I bought some vials of little pills that you could pull apart and write little messages in. They were so awesome… but the customs people at the airport weren’t so happy and they only just stopped short of cavity searching us upon our arrival.

Some more of the loot I got from my shopping expeditions. I have a new soft toy family now, as well as a plush bread roll (the one in the plastic dome). My ‘Bread-doe’ smells, looks and feels exactly like bread, but it’s not edible. It was so bizarre, I had to get it. Next we have some $2 accessories and gothic looking haircombs from Daiso- a Japanese discount store. I also got a cute lamp for $9 and many packets of Swarovski crystals for my next project (they were very affordable).

ENTERTAINMENT: Our gracious hosts from the Singapore Dark Alternative Movement took us to the zoo Night Safari which was amazing. I got to see my favourite animal, the Malayan Tapir as well as a leopard up close. They also treated us to a night out at the theatre to see Kraftwerk! It was really fun… and they had robots!

MORE SHOPPING: On my last day I went a little nuts at duty free and got myself some MAC cosmetics because they were very affordable. This red holiday brush set was made for me! I also got the Dangerzone Mineralize eyeshadow which is the most fabulous colour combo I’ve ever seen in a premade eyeshadow.

PLANNING: As always I’m scheming and planning ahead for more out of this world adventures. So I’ve purchased some new Moleskines to aid in my plotting. I also got this lined notebook from Singapore which features some unique illustrations throughout its pages.

NO UGLY BUTTS: Singapore is known to be an extremely tidy city. It’s actually illegal to litter (and to chew gum). We found this sign and found its wording to be quite humourous and we couldn’t resist getting a “cheeky” photo.
I hope you found my week to be entertaining… what did you get up to this week?

Hey Kara!
The flight was like 8 hours long I think. It was not too bad.
Singapore was tonnes of fun. I’m going to put more photos up on my flickr account tomorrow so you can see what Singapore really looks like.

Yay for bloggy goodness. The painting behind your desk and laptop, who may I ask is it by? Kinda reminds of Futura2000’s newer stuff.

Murdercute1994- It’s a cool place to visit, and it’s a good stopover on the way to Australia. I would recommend it if you like shopping.

In my case, it’d be rather the opposite - it’d be Australia a good stopover on the way to Singapore :D and I want to visit both places.

Just to point out that black, grey and white technically aren’t colours, either.
Nice post, though.
